ILA JEAN DISMUKES

We are saddened to announce the death of Ila Jean Dismukes, 73, daughter of Archie Gilbert Bazemore and Carrie Elizabeth Graves Bazemore Kemp. She was born in Sylvania, Georgia on November 4, 1932 and died August 17, 2006 in Savannah.
Following graduation from Sylvania High School, Marion College in Virginia, and the University of Georgia, Ila Jean taught home economics, kindergarten, and special education in Screven and Chatham county schools. She was a member of the Savannah Area Genealogical Society. Jean enjoyed the beach and her farm, but traveling was her true passion.

She is survived by her daughters; Bonnie Lynn Bartell Futrell and Marguerite Dismukes Fischer; son in laws, Hugh P. Futrell III, and Kevin Fischer; grandchildren; H. Preston Futrell IV, Amanda Futrell Morse Cray, Carmel Grace Futrell, Lillian Frances Futrell, Victoria Elizabeth Futrell, Alan Samuel Fischer and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 20, 2006 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 3 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.
